    ooooooohhhhhhkay. let's try this again. Since my previous request was opened and closed at least 7 or 8 times (closed most recently today) let's try this again.

    Garbage and weeds on sidewalks and spilling out onto streets makes it increasingly more painful to walk down these streets everyday.

    the encampments/RV's that have been living inside the private gated property (belonging to the parking lot owners) have contributed greatly to this I'm sure. they are now domiciling outside of the gated area parked on the street and the trash just seems to increase. the area on the corner near the on ramp I believe is CalTrans responsilibity and I have filed a report with them as well.

    is this the City's responsibility to clean up? the parking lot owners? if the latter, why can't they be forced to be more responsible and better neighbors? considering that they probably pull in $5000 a day on parking fees, the least they can do is keep their property maintained.

    my final question is - why does this keep getting "closed" when it's not - with no explanation?

    in case there is any doubt, this is on 5th Street, headed south towards the 880 North onramp. Between Union and Mandela (closer to Union). it's bad across the street too.

    multiple city electrical covers ripped off with wires missing. between adeline and just beyond union and the 880 onramp. I have a feeling the streetlights are not going to come on tonite.

    the street lights are once again not coming on at night. now it extends all the way from Union street down past the 880 south onramp towards Broadway. very dangerous!!

    the street lights along 5th street between union and adeline have been out for some time. dangerous for those walking and biking at night.

    I first reported this issue back in April, and TWICE the Call Center noted that "the City of Oakland fixed this issue". the City most definitely did NOT fix this issue, as I walk/bike by here every day on the way to BART.

    You can check on service request #728709 AND #729387. the second number is from when I reopened this request after being told it had been "fixed".

    Initially, this was just a bunch of mattresses and clothing and garbage strewn about. Now it has turned into an encampment and the amount of stuff seems to be growing.

    earlier this week, I was on my bike riding to BART and noticed two people laying in the pile of clothing. One of the guys had a very sizeable wound on his leg. I continued on to BART and as I approached the station this same guy had caught up to me on his bike and said something really gross and rude to me. I ignored him and he went away.

    I live in this neighborhood and do NOT want to feel unsafe or harassed when I am going about my business.

    I feel that posting this here won't do any good whatsoever but I feel it is at least a way to document this particular situation.

    I'm not sure if it's the responsibility of the parking lot owners, but the weeds and garbage along the sidewalk have been bad for many months. the weeds are growing out into the sidewalk so you have to step out into the street to avoid them. you would think with the amount of money they collect from parking they could afford to do some cleanup of the property.
